On december 27th 1944 B-24 serialnumber 42-75474 446BG-707BS was lost on a ops to Kaiserslautern.The crew bailed out and was safe. Can someone tells me were this aircraft came down and who the crew was ? |

42-75474 was P-47 crashing on December 05, 1943 at Cape Chales Village, VA USA.
446th losses for December 27 1944 were: 42-51312 42-52746 42-50491 |

The crew for 42-52747 "Shoo Shoo Baby" on 27 Dec 44, was Pilot 2/Lt William M. Woodburn, 2/Lt. James Payne, 2/Lt Bobb, 2/Lt Zaleski, T/Sgt Wm. Sunday, T/Sgt. Stanford G. Cain, T/Sgt. Tannatt, Sgt. R. Jones, Sgt. Larry Russell, Sgt. Embick and Sgt C. Dragga. See page 231-232 "The History of the 446th Bomb Group (H)" Compiled by Harold E. Jansen. Published by the 446th Bomb Group Assoc. Mac |

You are welcome. You might find this of interest. My father was co-pilot of one of the other three B-24s of the 446BG-707BS that crashed the same day (27 Dec 44) as Lt. Woodburn. My father was on 42-50491. Many years ago I met with Wm. Woodburn, and also met with Lt. Malone (the surviving pilot of 42-50491) at a 446th BG reunion . Mac |
