Question What time was Siegfried von Matuschka killed?

Dear All,
I know that Siegfried von Matuschka was killed in action on 16 April 1943, but I have not been able to find the exact time. Do you happen to know the exact time, not just the day, when he was killed?
Thank you very much in advance.

Re: What time was Siegfried von Matuschka killed?

Hello Teresa Maria,

in JFV Vol.10/IV is listed:
15.04.43 (not 16.04.) 4./JG 54 Oblt Siegfried Graf Matuschka Staffelkapitän + Luftkampf Spitfire, Absturz Marquise bei Calais, 14.55 Uhr, FSA, 100%. Bf 109 G-4 19222 weisse 1.

Regards
Leo

Re: What time was Siegfried von Matuschka killed?

Dear Leo,
Thank you very much for your answer. The problem is that most sources give the 16th of April as his death date.

Poor Sigi! He seems to have been so sweet...
Best regards,
Teresa

Re: What time was Siegfried von Matuschka killed?

Hello Chris,

according to JFV Vol. 10/IV page 568 he was not shot down. In the course of an air combat with Spitfires on 15 April 1943 he pulled out of a dive and the plane broke down. He parachuted, but the fabric got torn in the air.

Regards
Leo
