Last E.J.Kain victories

I have question about last three Cobber Kain victories in France:

25.05.1940 Do 17 destroyed N Rouen
26.05.1940 Hs 126 destroyed near Bouillon
27.05.1940 Do 17 destroyed Meaux

Does anybody know the identity of units from witch this planes could belong?

Re: Last E.J.Kain victories

Hi Michal,

Just checked Cobber's biography and unfortunately no identification of german units of these aircraft are included. However it does carry fairly detailed accounts of these combats, if you would like to see them let me know.

I can also check my copy of Don Minterne's history of 73 which might have something, however this is currently lent out to a friend so you might have to wait a week or so.

HTH,

Tim.

Re: Last E.J.Kain victories

Hi
Kain's claims -
the Do.17's are difficult as quite a few were shot down on the 2 days in question but the Hs.126 is probably from 3(H)/13 which was shot down by a fighter near Bouillon on 26 May. The only other Hs.126 lost this day was from 4(H)/21 shot down near Albert (probably by Stephen,Cobden & Mayne of 74 Sq who claimed a probable in this area ).
This is however speculation based on Luftwaffe loss list showing only 2 Hs.126's lost and my records showing only 2 claimed !

Re: Last E.J.Kain victories

Thanks for your answers.

In RAF FC victory claims by J.Foreman is one other victory over Hs 126 on 26.5. – F/O G.V.Proudman 64. Sqn 8.15 Calais. Trio from 74. Sqn claimed probable after Foreman in vicinity of Bergues in 7:20. Both locations are far from Albert but cca 45 km from each other. Maybe was Hs 126 from 4(H)/21 shot down by the French.
But plane from 3(H)/13 could be shot down by Kain.
