Fliegerhorst Pocking ?
Hello Forum-friends,
Two weeks ago I did spend some time in the Passau-area; southern Germany close to the Austrian border. I was told that there was a "Fliegerhorst" close to Pocking, just SW of Passau. So far I had never heard of this airfield. Was it an operational field, and if yes, what type of aircraft and units were based there during WW2 ? All help very much appreciated. Regards, Benno |

Re: Fliegerhorst Pocking ?
I am not at home with my books at the moment, however a quick Google search brought up the following sites:
http://www.vho.org/aaargh/fran/livres5/machtggrecht.pdf http://www.sankt-gertrud.de/geschichte.htm Search for Pocking when you have opened the documents.....however there does not appear to be much! Regards, Ian |

Re: Fliegerhorst Pocking ?
Pocking was an "Einsatzhafen I. Ordnung" and is located and is located 3 km S of Pocking. Check Google maps with 48 22 25 N and 13 18 00 E and you will be on this (former) airfield.

Re: Fliegerhorst Pocking ?
There was a big school, I guess, for Blitzmädchen, I'll check my materials for the exact details. At the end of the war, there were collected the Hungarian aviation units as well.
