Evader Accounts

I keep getting these requests-people must have time on their hands! Can anyone point me to accounts or books on evading through the Pyrenees during WW2? Apart from doing the Chemin de Liberté twice a number of years ago, that is as far as my detailed knowledge goes

Hello
You have "The Shelburne escape line" by Reanne Hemingway-Douglas, unexpensive

I will look to find more, probably in French

Re: Evader Accounts

Some escape reports are available at the NARA

An example :

https://catalog.archives.gov/id/5554652

The entry point is https://catalog.archives.gov/search?...tabType=online

Some are detailed, others not.

Re: Evader Accounts

Hi Chris

have a look at Chuck Yeager's "an autobiograhy" where he explains how he went throught the Pyrénées mountains, with an airman colleague;

He almost died there, it was really an ordeal he describes it very well.

Cheers

Gilles

Re: Evader Accounts

Oliver Clutton-Brock's "RAF Evaders" which, despite the title, includes USAAF evaders.

Re: Evader Accounts

A good site with lots of information and links:

http://www.conscript-heroes.com/

A useful section on the above is a multipage list of the MISX escape acccounts that can be found on the NARA site listed in post 4 above by using the last name.
