What airplane is this?
Dear all, I can not identify this cockpit.
On the "stick" it is written 300 km/h and other German words. Is this the cockpit of a Ju 90? The windows on the left side do suggest so. Any help most welcomed. A. |

Re: What airplane is this?
Versuch: Thanks for those 2 possible candidates...The first shot of the He 177 Greif cockpit really "looks like"...However, what I found strange is the 300 km/h information written on the stick itself...something I never found before on photos. Maybe this is a brand new machine or a prototype...I shall scan it properly and put here...
Harrison: I later tried to find a Ju 90 shot and yes, found a photo and images showing the stick quite different (looks more similar to the Ju 52 indeed, semi-circular shape). What I found strange (at least for me) is the sentence and the 300 km/h written on the stick. I have found similar placards on some civilian machines, but never something like that on a LW stick, hence my question (ID). Shall scan the text very soon and add or put onto this thread. Hope to be able to single out the text only. A. |

Re: What airplane is this?
Would someone have a picture or image of the cockpit of the He 119? It does have a "bird cage" and I was unable to find images of its cockpit or interior.
It may be a candidate as well... |

Re: What airplane is this?
He119, the glazing differs and no sign of the huge drive shaft through the cockpit.

Re: What airplane is this?
I would not be too concerned about the 300km/hr. marking. A lot of markings were added by the ground crew once it was delivered to the unit. On the cockpit side walls, control sticks/yokes, instrument panels, etc. This was common practice and not out of the ordinary, in the grand scheme of things.

Re: What airplane is this?
Harry, indeed I thought of a probable "Training" machine. The airman is with a Nav Chart on his legs. So, maybe those placards were placed there to guarantee the students would not forget something!
From what I tried to decipher with my 0,0001 poor German: Vorsichtig Abfahgen Bodenstte Vo 300km/h Here the two closes from the left and right side of the stick... |
