Karl-Hermann Lion Incident 7 June 1940

Hi all

I know this is a long shot but maybe someone can help.

Karl-Hermann Lion records landing briefly on his return from an attack on Breteuil on 7 June 1940. Lion landed Ju 87B J9+JH for ten minutes between 21:20 and 21:30 while returning from his third sortie of the day. It seems he was perhaps assisting a Luftwaffe crew that had undertaken an emergency landing. After this, Lion took off again and returned to Guise at 21:50.

Can anyone throw any light on this incident?

As usual, all help is welcome.

Dear Tim,

The magnificent book "The Battle of France, then and now" (Pgs 441-442) do give us no clues about any loss on Lion's unit. There were some StG 51 and StG 2 losses (it seems only two Stukas were shot down that day), however there is no timing (Hour) informed for both.

Most humbly yours,
Adriano

Tim: A long shot indeed. If no reason is quoted in the FB, without speaking to the crew in question, the landing could have been for a myriad of reasons. I doubt whether the incidents gets a mention in official reports

Thanks Chris and Adriano. Always worth asking here as it never ceases to amaze me what information is held by this group!
