Re: NJG1 & NJG4

I think you need to be more specific. For example, NJG 1 were in existence from the back end of June 1940 to the end of the war...

Re: NJG1 & NJG4

the guy helping to write our He 219 book, Marcel Hogenhuis, is quite the authority on NJG 1. Otherwise try Theo Boiten, Mikael Olrog

Re: NJG1 & NJG4

There's also at least one board member here very keenly interested in II./NJG 1. To get a response, you'll need to be way more specific.

Of course, Mr Vasco, you are absolutely correct. What I am looking for in particular is information in the autumn 1942 period, when NJG1 sent some aircraft temporarily to NJG4. What to me, is confusing, is the date that NJG4 moved from Mainz/Finthen to Juvincourt. Also, I have seen the self-same photograph of two aircraft supposedly taken at the same time, at both places…

Re: NJG1 & NJG4

I presume then you are talking about III./NJG 4 which is said to have moved to Juvincourt around Sep 42

Yes, Chris, that’s correct. In particular, I am researching Ofw B Eikmeier who was on detached duty from 2./NJG1 to 9./NJG4. He shot a Wellington on the night of 2/3 September 1942. Now, were NJG4 still flying from Mainz on that date, or had the moved to Juvincourt. The WW2.DK site just says that NJG4 moved to Juvincourt in ?/September 1942. I am also trying to discover if he was flying a Bf110F-4 with, or without FuG 202, or a ‘110 E…..
Many thanks for your response
Andy

Re: NJG1 & NJG4

Hello,

The II.(4.)/NJG 1 under Wilhelm Herget moved 9.4.1942 to Juvincourt, where it was renamed in the III.(9.)/NJG 4 at the beginning of May.
According to the Flight log of Wilhelm Herget and Fritz Gräff, the III.(9.)/NJG 4 flew missions from Juvincourt from 8.5.1942-1.10.1942.

Regards, René

Merci bien, Rene - so 9./NJG4 made an (unofficial) move earlier than September 1942?.

Regards Andy

Hello Andy,

I haven't written anything about unofficial.

The II.(4.)/NJG 1 under Wilhelm Herget moved/displacement (official) 9.4.1942 to Juvincourt, where it was renamed in the III.(9.)/NJG 4 at the beginning of May.
According to the Flight log of Wilhelm Herget and Fritz Gräff, the III.(9.)/NJG 4 flew missions (with 3C+..) from Juvincourt from 8.5.1942-1.10.1942.
