Tom, my gratitude for your kind help with the werknummer and the flying unit of this machine.

Was it a sub-type A-4 or A-5 version?

And do you have the full name and rank of Schmidt? Just for reference. At least this airman flew this machine.

Re: Ju 88 - Stammkennzeichen PJ+UQ

Adriano,

According to the Hugo Junkers site it could be an A-5 version.
Although this werkenr is not mentioned, it fits between these:
J88-000542, Ju88 A5
LUFTWAFFE, ??+??, ??.??.?? to Mrz.41, 90% damaged in crash landing near Chatêaudun while with II KG76
J88-000552, Ju88 A5
LUFTWAFFE, ??+??, ??.??.?? to Nov.42, Damaged in Crash at Aalborg/Denmark while with IV./KG 30
The link:

Hope this helps, kind regards,

Dirk

Re: Ju 88 - Stammkennzeichen PJ+UQ

Dirk,

Thank you so much for the link I did not know and for the information of the sub-type being an A-5.

Most welcomed information.

OBS: I acquired some years ago an image of this machine flying over Cumulus white clouds, somewhere (now almost sure that it was over Germany). It was probably taken by another machine flying alongside, from the right, 3/4 side. Since I can not see the nose definetely (the engine nacelle do cover it), I could not ID the sub-type of this Ju 88 either....the PJ+UQ is clearly visible on the fuselage (right side) and the machine seems to be fully painted on RLM 76. This is why this thread started.

The sub-type is A-5 and I only have the last name for the owner of the Flugbuch

The subtype is not A-5 but A-5/F (Fernaufklärer = Recce airplane). Built in Bernburg in October 1940, acceptance flight on 2 November 1940, upgraded in Dessau with "trop" gear and delivered in February 1941. Later in service with 2.(F)/123 in the Mediterranean.
