Markings and codes of Short Stirling units

Hello all,

I'm looking for markings and codes of British Short Stirling units.
I try to find out some claims of German nightfigters between 1942
and 1944. Maybe someone can explain me the marking practice
of the RAF? Where can I find out the units of RAF aircrafts?

Thank you very much and with kind regards,
Sven.

Re: Markings and codes of Short Stirling units

Hello Nick, hello Dennis,

great side, thank you very much. Now I look for an
Short Stirling of the 214. Squadron with the code C-BU.
I saw photos of this a/c which is lying near the sea, maybe
in Holland or Northern Germany.
Does anybody have details of this lost?

Thanks again and with the best wishes,
Sven.

Re: Markings and codes of Short Stirling units

217Sq operated Stirlings from mid 1942 till the end of 1943.

BU G R9326 11/12-6-42 Memmert island
BU C N3762 19/20-6-1942 De Driehoek (NL)
BU C W7560 26/27-7-1942 Westerdreichstric (D)
BU G BF478 23/24-5-1943 Engelsmansplaat (NL)

These are a few of their losses that I found. I'm sure this list is not complete. I've included BU-G as well.

Hope this helps,

Dennis
