Re: Vom Fernaufklärer über Eismeer und Nordsee zum Jet-Piloten

Hi Rich,

I have the book and have read it for most part. I skipped the childhood and flight school parts. Went straight to combat flying. For me it is very interesting because he operated in the North. First for short period in 1.(F)/22 in Kemi, Finland then 1.(F)/124 in Kirkenes, Norway. He smashed couple of Ju 88's in landing and was ordered to observation course. He flew some missions in the North as an observer. Later he got his pilot status back and flew dangerous missions from Stavanger against England, like Scapa Flow. The pilot and observer licence he had, turned out to be lucky when pilots for a reconnaissance unit of Ar 234 were selected. He flew two missions over England with Ar 234. The book is well written and surely tells a story of an unique pilot.
