ZG 1 Puzzles
Trying to sort out who was in command of what and when from October 1943 onward. It appears that 15./KG 40 formed 7./ZG 1 but did not achieve full Gruppe strength until Feb-Mar 44 when Hptm Morr became Kommandeur and Oblt Martin Reuter St Kap. Until then it was subordinate to I./ZG 1. It then says 8./ZG 1 was formed from 1./128 but this unit at the start of Feb 44 became 10./ZG 1 and ceased to exist at the end of April 1944. 8./ZG 1 lost its first and only Ju 88C-6 11 May 1944. Its St Kap was said to be Hptm Heinz Schocker who was with 1./128 in Jan 44. Finally, was there a 9 Staffel before 9. (NJ)/ZG1 was formed from Kdo Kunkel in Jun 44? Its St Kap was said to be Oblt Karl Ulbrich but he moves to 8 Staffel when 9.(NJ) is formed. Puzzled like me?
