Ju 88C-6 R4+HH, 1./NJG2, Catania, 1942

Hi All,

Would anyone know any information about the crew that flew the Ju 88C-6 R4+HH of 1./NJG2 based at Catania (in Sicily), Italy, in early 1942?

I only found basic information about Oblt Gerhard Böhme in the list by Henry L. deZeng IV and Douglas G. Stankey, and he apparently shot down only one aircraft — a Whitley. It seems he died before the end of the war.

Thank you very much

Franklin

The same photo (without names) appears in Nachtjager, Vol. 1: Luftwaffe Night Fighter Units 1939–1943 (Luftwaffe Colours) by David Williams (2006).

I found some information in the book Chronik: I./NJG 2 by Heinz Rökker:

In the photo, the following are identified: Dr. Otto Möhlenbeck (Stabsarzt) and Hptm Heinz-Horst Hissbach (RK, 34 victories).

The crew of Oblt Gerhard Böhme (Ff) consisted of Ofw August Hiltrop (Bf) and Ofw Paul Mau (Bm). The book includes a photo of Böhme and confirms only one victory for him.

On 19 December 1941, a Ju 88C-4 R4+HH was shot down over Malta, and its crew consisted of: Lt. Wilhelm Brauns (Ff), Gefr Johann Mattuschka (Bf), and Uffz Erwin Heese (Bm).
