Attack on a trawler in North Sea on 23 January 1941 or later

Hello,

On 23 January 1941, the British trawler Arora left Aberdeen for fishing with 9 men aboard and the disappeared. A lifeboat was later recovered west of the Orkneys riddled with bullets and containing bomb splinters, I have not the date of that recovery.

Has someone a report of a German bomber or reconnaissance aircraft attacking a trawler in the area between Scotland and the Orkneys on 23 January 1941 or the next day ?

Thanks in advance

The Admiralty War Diaries for the second half of January 1941 are here: https://cd.royalnavy.mod.uk/-/media/...61a59a6c4da785

If there was an attack on a British ship then it should be recorded there.

Nothing OKW/OKL records apart from I./KG 40 which would have been to the west

Thanks Nick, but I have the British point of view that the British trawler just went missing and his damaged lifeboat was found.

Thanks Chris, effectivelly I./KG 40 was busy (and successful) in the Atlantic those days, not over the area.
