Dutch Catalinas Ceylon

Hello,

Can anyone help? 321 Squadron was a Dutch squadron flying Catalinas (and later Libs) and was based at Ceylon in 1943. I'd like to confirm that Hugo Burgerhout, who later commanded 320 Squadron on Mitchells in GB, served with this unit. No trace of him in 321 ORB, but it is known that he did serve in Ceylon on Catalinas in 1943 at the head of 5 Dutch Catalinas (no more details given). If not 321, in which squadron he could have flown with?

Thanks

Phil

Re: Dutch Catalinas Ceylon

Phil,

Also try the Summary of Events for No. 321 Squadron. Burgerhout is mentioned on 1 Feb 1943 to command a detachment in S. Africa.

Summary here: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ils/r/D8401443

(With a free account, you can download the file in a minute).

He and others had PBY training at NAS Corpus Christi: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/1339...bject-thumb--3

Regards, Leendert
