RAF - losses June 12.1944, MTO

Does somebody have any information about RAF-losses in the night of June 12.1944 during a bombing raid in the MTO (Balkans). The a/c were probably "Wellingtons" from the 205 BG. (RAF), 15. AF stationed in Italy.

Thumbs up Re: RAF - losses June 12.1944, MTO

Thank you Schenck!
Very needful information. I had some data before, that 4 bodies (RAF crew members) were found on the 12-th of June in Bulgaria and buried in a local cemetery. This must be the crew of the same plane. Why 4 and not 5 – I don’t know.
The airfield bombed at that night was called "Marno pole" near the town of Karlovo.
I visited also your site – there’s a lot of very good information there!
Cheers!

No. 205 Group RAF was part of the Mediterranean Allied Strategic Air Force (MASAF) alongside the US 15th AF. It was a British formation with a strong South African element.

There was a thread on the Allied Board about whether No. 205 Group was subordinated to 15th AF but it doesn't appear that it was from the contemporary documents I've seen.

Hi Nick!
I didn't want to say, that No. 205 Group was subordinated to 15.AF, but in the way I've written my question it's really misleading. Mea culpa!
The relatively complicated (for me) organization of MAAF (w/ MASAF, MATAF, MACAF) needs really more attention!
