Any info on "FÜG 1"?

Hi All,

I came across this unit mentioned on Wikipedia when I was searching about Siebel Fh 104 and Si 204... what is "FÜG 1" an abbreviation of?

Any info on this unit gratefully received - they sound like an equivalent to the British "Air Transport Auxiliary" who delivered aircraft to operational units during WW2... is this correct? Never heard of them before...

Re: Any info on "FÜG 1"?

Thanks John,

Was it, as I suggested, an aircraft delivery unit? (My German is very limited - I can order beer... and I can read more than I can understand... ;-) )...

Regards,

Tony

Ordering beer is of course one of the most important things on this planet which a man should be capable of.... there are only a few more important things.

But, yes, you are correct, it is an aircraft delivery unit. Most of the time the pilots were either older or otherwise unfit for combat duty (they may have had serious injuries).

cheers,

John
