inspection stamps from crash site
Hello, i'm michele from Italy.
Two days ago, a farmer gave me a piece of a plane crashed in his field during the war. I cannot post a photo, but it appears a rudder or aileron frame, light alloy, with a round inspection stamp signed "CFD 11". A witness (child at the time) says that the pilot was a "black man", baled out near the crash and rescued by the partisans. He say also the facts happens on the first months of 1945, february or march. May be he was a Tuskagee's pilot? The plane went down near the Crostolo river, just 15-20 miles south of REGGIO EMILIA, north italy. Does anyone know the menaing of the stamp CFD 11? Thanks in advance Michele |
