Re: He-162 with 16 Kill markings on Tail!!!

Just for a quicky reply. On 20 Nov 44 Lt. Emil Demuth was Staffelkapitan of 3./JG 1, flying Fw 190s. On 21.11.44 he claimed a B-17 for his 13th victory. On 23.12.44 he claimed a P-47 for his 14th victory. On 25.12.44 he claimed a B-24 for victory 15. And, on 28.12.44 he claimed a P-51 for victory 16.

Did the He 162 get any victories? Some say Yes, others say No. So, my response is a definite Perhaps! But, Lt. Demuth claimed no victories in the He 162.

AFAIK there is only one unverfied claim on the He 162 and that was IIRC by an Uffz., whose name I cannot remember. Therefore some say yes, some say no.
Lt. Demuth's claims were all made before he switched to the He 162, as you correctely showed.

As I know victories on tail was not all from this fighter but from his previous fighter planes.

It was Lt. Rudolf Schmitt in his White 1! On 4th May 1945 he noted in his flightbook: 11:45 Typhoon wirksam beschossen (Abschuß nicht bestätigt)

Cheers, Simon

Re: He-162 with 16 Kill markings on Tail!!!

In his book, "Footsteps of the hunter," Adolf Dickfeld said, on page 187 and 188, that he and a Lt. Bartz, his wingman, each shot down a P-47 in the He 162. No date or time was supplied.
