17 SQN SAAF Ventura losses February 1944
Hi I have got following info:
17 SQN SAAF Loss of a Ventura on the 6 Feb 1944, this is listed as FP635 'Missing On Patrol Of Cyprus' But I am unable to find any losses on the CWGC site for this date! There is also another loss on 4 Feb 1944 believed of Ventura FP543 of No. 17 SQN SAAF with crew of Lt. de Jong but this plane is documented as lost on 3 Feb 1944 with No. 459 SQN RAAF. Can anybody help me to resolve this mystery? TIA Pavel

Re: 17 SQN SAAF Ventura losses February 1944
Hi,
The details are not much better in "85 Years of the South African Air Force". No crew names given for the loss of FP635. while all four crew of FP543 are given as Killed. The date given for this loss is given as the 4th. Alex |
