Luftwaffe trains????

Hello!

I have a handcarved "badge" depicting a FLAK 88 gun carved together with the Reichsbahn symbol, wheel and wings.
The owner of this item was Batterie leader and had his own waggon.

Was there any LW units, that were specialized in train protection?

I have never heard of this before, but have learned a lot in this forum
and therefore my question.

Speaking generally, flak guns were mounted on trains to protect them from aerial attack. Radar was also mounted on flat cars. One flak gun enclosure type was a concrete cylinder with a door on the side. The flak gun was mounted on a wooden platform. Ammunition was stowed in the space under the platform.

Flak Railways Units were from February 1945 subordinated to 30. Flak Division. There are known several snapshots of AAA-Train during Prague Uprising. Usually, as wrote Ed West, on railway car platforms were mounted circle concerte structure with 20 cm Flak-Vierling Guns. Three such concerte structure survived WW2 and are exhibited by Vojenské Muzeum Králíky (Military Museum Králíky). See:

Holá all,
There were various units assigned to Flak-a/o Early Warning Railway trains. I think it is a huge thema of its own and deserves more attention.
What I know from unit histories, trains with Flak of various calibers were first introduced in the Ruhr area when the towns there came under heavy night bomber attacks in 1941/42. The railway system in the concerned areas were excellent at that time and trains could move to the endagered cities quickly to back up the stationary air defence.
Thanks to ed west I have downloaded from e-bay a number of photos, in this case from 2. Marine Flak Brigade. See yourself.
