Losses of the 4th Fighter Group on April 16, 1945

Dear all, as you may know the 4th Fighter Group (8th USAAF) lost eight aircraft to flak in the vicinity of Prague on April 16, 1945. In this connection, I am wondering how many aircraft of "A" Group of the 4th FG were deployed in this mission.
Thanks a lot! Kind regards, Filip

As far as I can tell, A Group, led by Lt.Col. Woods, consisted of:
335th FS - five sections of four a/c = 20 and
336th FS - five sections of four a/c plus two - not sure if the odd two were spares or a separate element but 22 a/c in total for 336 making a grand total of 42 a/c for A group (less spares and relays?)

B Group led by Maj. Norley was five sections of four a/c making total of 20 and all provided by the 334th FS.

Best I can do at the moment.

Peter

Hi All -

Following Peter's lead by posting here as well - Lt.s' Cavallo and Moore must have flown as spares for 336 on this mission as they returned to Debden at 1435, some 2.5 hours ahead of other returning group members.
