Re: Photos 3-12

Parabellum, that is NOT a Bf 109T! What makes you think that? Wings are normal span.

If this:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=300090067470

is the other one you suspect is a Bf 109T, it is not. The shape of the air intake is not standard for Emils, sure, but this type was retrofitted to BOTH Bf 109Ts and Es after about 1942.

This 109 lacks the one positive identifying fuselage feature of the Bf109T, the circular compass access hatch seen between fuselage frames 2 & 3 as also used on later Bf 109 versions.

I'd be a very happy person if new Bf 109T photos appeared (in fact its one of the reasons I'm looking though Ed's excellent postings), but they have been few and far between!

Regards,

Kjetil

This photo appeared earlier at eBay with info that it was from "Juteborg". Obviously a training aircraft marking.

Is it the top part of a JG 54 "Green Heart" visible right under the cockpit, seen as two thin white arches?

Can someone identify the emblem on the cowling on this Bf 109 F.
A reconnaissance unit - or what?

This may be Uffz Alfred Dettke who lost a similarly marked machine on April 28 '42. He crashlanded due to flak. However, he was not officially credited with his 11th victory until October, so there is some doubt about this being his machine.

Without having my references handy (I'm at work ), I'd say it's the Black Demon emblem of a Jagdstaffel.

This particular photo (and a couple of similar shots from the same series) was sold at least ten times in the past year or so. Buyer, beware!
