Bf 109G-10 info needed
Hi!
I'm looking for a pilot flown on Bf109G-10(Wk.nr 612 556) "white 4" (4+-). I know that this plane belong to II Gruppe/Jagdgeschwader 7 in the end of 1944(Germany). Anybody help? Cheers! |

Re: Bf 109G-10 info needed
There is, unfortunately, no evidence that JG7 flew anything other than Me 262s.
This aircraft is, undoubtedly, another victim of 60s/70s unit misidentification Sorry, Chris |

Re: Bf 109G-10 info needed
I don't recall seeing a photo of this aircraft.
However, the other "JG7" Bf 109G, Gelbe 20+, is similarly marked. This aircraft was found to have been from I./Erg. KG(J) and not JG7. Another misidentified aircraft, and possible unit affiliation, would White 44, recently confirmed as being from JG301. There are no known losses of the Bf 109 with JG7, which I feel is the most compelling evidence for there being no 109s in the unit. (Compare this figure with losses of training and support aircraft of the EJG, KG(J) Me 262 units - you'll see what I mean) I'd like to see a photo of 610(?)556 (612xxx is not a valid werknummer series) , if one exists to allow me to pass better judgement of the aircrafts unit assignment, although I still suspect a training or bomber conversion unit. Re: Bf 109G-10 info needed
Ok
So maybe you know who was a Gruppenadjutant of III/JG 7. This gruppe was based in Lechfeld in March 1945? I ask you about this because I have a Revell modelki of Me262 A-1a <+|and also under emblem of JG7 is a little blue 3. |

Re: Bf 109G-10 info needed
Lucas,
David E Brown's excellent commentary here: http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...?showtopic=557 deals with Green (not Blue) 3 in far more detail than I could hope to. Chris |

Re: Bf 109G-10 info needed
Tony,
As much as I'd love Yellow 20 to be part of a protection flight, the sad truth is that Erg KG(J) purpose was to re-train bomber pilots (from KG6, 30 and 54), via piston engined aircraft (i.e. yellow 20, etc), to fly the Me 262. Once trained they'd be farmed out to one of the KG(J) units. Yellow 20 was reported (via 1 TAF - thanks to Rabe Anton here:http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/articl.../ge20/ge20.htm) as a G-4 (typo?) or G-6. It's markings were also reported as 20+|, although I believe the III. gruppe bar is a misinterpretation of the white trestle stripe under the tailplane. Additionally I have some evidence to support the theory that the fuselage band was not an overpainted yellow one, but was in fact red. I have a little more info on the aircraft of this unit, but it'll have to go PM (I'm afraid) if you're interested, Hope this helps, Chris |
