V-1 Refurbishment complete
I have attempted(first-timer with uploaded jpegs) to upload some pictures of the V1 that is displayed on the courthouse lawn here in Greencastle, Indiana, USA. It was taken down 18 months ago and I was afraid the political correct wave of removing "war machines" from public buildings had manifested here. I found out that it was just being refurbished and would be put back up. That finally happened a few weeks ago. I was waiting for a good day to take some pictures to post. Here they are.
The story goes that a prominent local lawyer/politico was a colonel on Eisenhower's staff during the war. The British fished this particular V-1 out of the channel and he was able to pull some strings and have it shipped back to Greencastle just after the war. The only other one on this side of the world is in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I took these photos myself, so there is copyright issues involved with these images. Enjoy. Regards, Duane |

Re: V-1 Refurbishment complete
Nice, but I think you will find there are more than this and the NASM examples in the U.S., Pima Museum comes to mind straight away as does Flying Heritage who have a piloted version.
Check under 'Missiles' here for all the others. http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/ Dave |

Re: V-1 Refurbishment complete
Thanks for the updated info on other examples. I was just going by the plaque at the base of the display. Obviously, it's decades old and can't be that accurate in regards to current numbers. Big "duh" moment for myself, lol!
