Ju-87 Stuka sirens?

You'll notice the sirens on the wheel spats are stationary while flying. What activated the sirens? The increased speed of the dive or deploying the dive brakes released them to spin?

Regards,
Mike

Re: Ju-87 Stuka sirens?

Long time ago I have read some descriptions of this device and as I can remember this was powered by the air electric generator and they are electric powered sirens. Detail you see on wheel spats are electric generator and air is pushed propeller of dynamo.

Re: Ju-87 Stuka sirens?

The devices on the gear spats are the sirens. The Jumo 211 has its own generator attached to the accessory case of the engine.

Re: Ju-87 Stuka sirens?

hallo Mike

Re: Ju-87 Stuka sirens?

hello mike,
I am not so a good trtanslator but in big lines its:
the props are turned on by wind
the start and stop from it is happening due to an electrique and pressureoil system
you have a switch T1 with sign on and off and this switch is located left side from pilot.
the needed oil is taken from the running back oilpipe that is located from a switch from the sturzflug brakes.
to stop the prop you can only do this after the dive when your current speed max 320 km/h is.
its not "a perfect" translation but its in big lines hopefully you can understand and maybe other readers have better translation possibilities.
kindly regards
phil
