Wilhelm Johnen
All sources I have read mention that he was from 8./NJG 6. But his aircraft was code C9+EN which identifies it as from 5./NJG 5.
You have guessed my question: which unit Johnen was from actually? Thanks. Chris |

Re: Wilhelm Johnen
Hi Chris,
Having checked his log book, Johnen was flying with C9-EN from 10th December 1942 up to 5th April 1943 from Parchim. At this time he was operating with 5./NJG 5, which had formerly been 3./NJG 1. It changed designation 1st December 1942. On 10th May 1944 II./NJG5 was redesignated III./NJG 6 and a short time later transferred to Steinamanger in Hungary and Johnen was made Staffelkapitan of 8./NJG 6. Hope this helps. All the best, David.
