Kampfgeschwader 1 - question

Hello,


Is ther eanyone who can tell me the whereabouts of Oberfeldwebel Walter Richter?

I have the following info on him :

* Bordmechanic

Did win the :

* honour goblet - date 20.04.1942
* german cross in Gold - date : 17.10.1943

The fact that he did win the German cross does point out that he was a member of a very succesfull crew + he must have survived quite a bit.

He was with the 2. / KG 1 when awarded teh German cross.

Any idea iff he did survive the war or any other info available?

The Obfw Walter Richter who was awarded the DKiG 17Oct43 with 2./KG 1 was a flugzeugfϋhrer.

There was a Uffz Walther Richter who was awarded the DKiG 27Oct42 with 3./KG 53, this individual was a Bordmechaniker so maybe the EP award relates to him.

Sorry for the latre reply, very good observation and thank you for poiting that out. You are correct and i think the KG 53 trace is most probably a correcter one.
