Re: Weser Flugzeugbau
I gave in and bought a copy and I'm glad I did. I haven't had it long so haven't yet read it yet anywhere nearly completely.
For me, whilst not perfect, it's far more cohesive than the same author's book on Focke-Wulf and there's a nice selection of photos, mainly from the Airbus Archive.
My principal interest in Weser is as a result of its takeover of Fogelis in 1944 and in Fritz Feilcke as the Leiter of SAF 36 (Sonderausschuss für Hubschrauber). Interesting enough, it seems the author was able to turn up a microfilmed copy of what he refers to as the Feilcke Tagebücher for 1943 and 1944 in the Bremer Staatsarchiv. These appear to have come via Airbus and were no doubt returned to them at some point and languish somewhere in their Archive. He seems to believe those for 1942 and 1945 still languish somewhere undiscovered. The book is liberally sprinkled with information from these records and personally I will in time as I digest the book, get a lot from it. The Feilcke Tagebücher are clearly a very important primary source and in time I'd hope to be able to visit the Bremer Staatsarchiv.
