Spitfire in Switzerland ?
Hello,
On a list that I have of aircraft crashed in Switzerland is a Spitfire. Serial number is given as MK366. This Spitfire was with the French Squadron 328. Anyone have details on this aircraft other than "presumed left in France". What of the pilot, who was he and what became of him ? The date was 20/4/1945, the place is given as Merishausen.. Thanks Alex |

Re: Spitfire in Switzerland ?
'MK366' I think this is assumed to be MK366 as does the accident list you refer say just "366" anyway, accident at Merishausen, Switzerland (Pilot Y.KOECHLIN Killed)

Re: Spitfire in Switzerland ?
Hello Paul,
The list that was sent to me quite some time ago has the serial number as MK366. That is all I have on it except details in Spitfire the History and Air britains MA-MZ series book. Thanks for pilots details, was he a Frenchman ? Alex |

Sorry do not know if he was a Frenchman, though I suspect he was as it is a French Name. http://translate.google.com/translat...:en%26pwst%3D1 Prehaps you should consider contacting the admistrator of that site.. BTW there was another KOECHLIN serving with 328 Sqn: but he was LV (Naval Rank detached from AdA) Henri SALOMON-KOECHLIN who was killed 15/09/1947 Paul |

Re: Spitfire in Switzerland ?
The Koechlin listed for 328 Sq is listed as having force landed for 20/4/45 and had one claim:

I had not noticed the date on that website, and my French is bad anyway.. I looks like my info is wrong. So it is probable that he did NOT die in the accident to MK366 after all... In that case he was Henri-Salomon KOECHLIN or Henri Salomon-KOECHLIN who died it appears September 15, 1948 or Sept 15 1947 Prehaps someone can confirm what date he died (and how) http://translate.google.com/translat...:en%26pwst%3D1 http://translate.google.com/translat...:en%26pwst%3D1 |

Re: Spitfire in Switzerland ?
He may have died from his wounds. But I can't make much of what's being said on the web-site either :-)
EDIT - OK, I've just re-read BK No1 1978, and it says that he was a test pilot (but the update at the bottom of the page now states that he died in 1950!). It's getting very confusing. |

Re: Spitfire in Switzerland ?
He is listed as a Test Pilot so I assume another aircraft accident!
