Nachtjagdgeschwader 6 - 21.Feb.45
Trying to get the background to this raid and losses inflicted.
The main German night fighter unit opposing the Worms raid was Nachtjagdgeschwader 6, based in Southern Germany, and this unit contributed 15 night fighter sorties. Some of these night fighters infiltrated the bomber stream on the approach to Worms and it was the fighters that caused the majority of Bomber Command losses. Could any point me to a book or where I might find the Luftwaffe claims info for the Halifax's and Lancasters within - lost on this raid on 21.02.45. Hope someone might be able to help. Your Sincerely, Andrew Bird |

Re: Nachtjagdgeschwader 6 - 21.Feb.45
Hi Andrew,
The best book is 'Das Kriegstagebuch der Nachtjagdgeschwader 6' by Werner Kock. I have a copy so if there is anything you specifically want let me know and i'll look through it for you. The only problem for most people is that it is in German only. Guenther Bahr claimed 7 bombers that night and Peter Spoden claimed one. I am seeing Peter next week so if you have any questions for him let me know. All the best, David.
