Question Luftwaffe intelligence

It is well known that 'Beppo' Schmid was head of Luftwaffe Intelligence in 1939-1941. But who replaced him and when. Does anyone have any information about the successor or successors?

Re: Luftwaffe intelligence

Josef Kogel took over from Schmid in October 1942, shortly after an officer on Schmid's staff was charged with being a communist spy. Schmid was caught up in the friction arising from the success of the Anglo-American bombing and came under fire over debunking the exaggerrated Luftwaffe claims. He took command of an air defence unit, sorry I don't know which one.

Kogel left the post shortly after the Schweinfurt and Peenemunde raids to be replaced by Rudolf Wodarg who was in turn replaced by Walter Kienitz.

Hope this helps,

Bruce Dennis

Bruce
Many thanks for your response.
Would I be right in thinking all of Schmid's successors were Obersts?

Hello Ted,
Sorry about the delay. My source describes their ranks in English.

Josef Schmid = Lt Col
Josef Kogel = Lt Col
Rudolf Wodarg = Col
Walter Kienitz = Col

Hope this helps,

Bruce
