An interesting Bf 109 in http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=150130215191: a "5" behind the fuselage Balkenkreuz and what looks like an infantry close-combat badge by the cockpit.
Also, for the non-German speakers, the document (signed by a Head Forester) at http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=170119327512 recounts how American troops occupying a German village in April 1945 ordered the local people to bury the crew of a crashed Ju 52 (including two Luftwaffe men and three female auxiliaries). The bodies were identified, the photos show the wreck and there's a memorial card for one of the dead men which says he died returning from a mission.

Hi Nick, I believe it is the letter "E" or "F" and not a number "5" on the rear fuselage. This is also more in line with ground attack unit markings on 109 Es I believe.

I'm dobtful about JG 53...  More surely JG 26, and a plane belonging to 8th staffel (black 2+I with Adamson emblem) in the foreground and one blelonging 7th staffel, in the background (red heart insignia). Any idea of the place where the picture was taken?

But... I wonder if it is the burial you are speaking of? I remember of another one photo I've seen before... and it seems to me that there were three coffins on the ground, in front of the shelter, for the ceremony. So...
