Re: Bf 109 G-2 14930

Hi.

Isn't that WNr supposed to be a G-4?

Can't find it among the JG 5 losses, even as a G-2, so only one possibility remain in my opinion:

One of the G-4's lost by 1.(F)/124 in 1944

Maybe someone have the NVM's for this unit and can find it there.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Bf 109 G-2 14930

Gentlemen,

I have this a/c as a Bf 109 G-4 still on active service with an Erprobungskommando in March 1944, where it was damaged in a crash landing owing to mechanical failure at Schönfeld, damage being assessed as 15%. Further fate unknown to me.

Regards

Jochen Prien

Re: Bf 109 G-2 14930

Hello there.

I know the location of the aircraft and i have 2 plates from it.One is marked bordfunkanlage and on this plate is Me 109 G2.the other plate is marked Bleisammler from varta and on this is werk-nr 14930 but as I suspected it is only a partnr. Some one at one point tried unsuccessfully to raise this ac and there were some parts of aluminium from the rear fuselage and on the inside was stamped ERLA.
Thanks anyway for clearing this up.
Peter

Hi.

I suspect thus that the Wnr you have provided is from a sub-assembly only, and that the real airframe Wnr is something else.

And there are plenty of G-2's to choose from lost in that area...

Andreas B
