Ofw. Maier from an Erg. JG in Poland, 1944

Hello!
I am searching the circumstances about this pilots death on dec. 12, 1944.

Owf. Ludwig Maier had been a flying instructor for several years and ended his life in an Erg. JG.
In "Gräbersuche" it states that he fell at the airfield Schönfeld, Geifersdorf and is currently burried in Choinow, Poland.

Is Schönfeld the same as Choinow?

Does anyone know more about this pilot, plane, unit and maybe markings?

Thank you
Christian
