Rick

Nothing is mentioned in Balss two books regarding this individual on your quoted day. Are you sure about the date/and or that he was really killed in an AIR battle??

Cheers
Stig

Website volksbund.de has (a) Unteroffizier Heinz Giefert listed with date of death 24.03.1944 at/around St.Dizier, France.
Was born in Billerbeck, 19.11.1922. He's buried at Andilly, France.

Leendert

There was a bomb attack on St.Dizier airfield on 24 March 1944 and personnel of II./NJG 4 was killed in that attack. Could not find a Verlustmeldung for Uffz. Gievert though.

Cheers,

John
