The best one for strategy and flight just now?

According to you, which is the best WWII 1939-45 air combat simulator around, just now?

The last I played was IL2 Forgotten Battles plus Aces expansion pack; but I don't know about newer sims.

I would like to buy a new one ; but something in the Western Theatre of operations, from 1940 to 1945 (Allies vs Luftwaffe). I heard about Battle of Britain II, but I guess it's only summer 1940. I'm looking for something that covers the period 1940-45 in the West, and possibily with mission builder and strategic campaign completely managed by the Player. Does it exists? Or I have to think that the only one game around that allows for industrial production, research, strategy, tactics and flight at the same time is still the good old Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe of 1991 ?!

Combat Flight Sim 2 - it may be old, but go to the Sim Outhouse http://www.sim-outhouse.com/ - it has been developed into every scenario, with hundreds of aircraft, ships, scenery and mesh. Campaigns include virtually every theatre of WW2, including Eastern front, Finland, Poland, Mediteranean.....plus WW1 and Korea - even Vietnam is now being worked on.

I have all of the add-ons for the IL-2 air combat simulation game and think it is the best of all the games I have played. There is another add-on for the Western Desert and is titled Fliegerasse! Der Stern von Afrika which deals with Hans Joachim Marseille. This was purchased from Germany and the dealer is named after the largest river in South America. The instructions are in German.

Sorry to revive an old thread here but I'd have to agree with OakTree. Aces High II is the most addictive game I've ever played and there are tons of great folks that play it. Got a couple of updates last week adding the Panther tank, the Betty bomber, and in the arena I stay in we got a custom map of Korea and went head to head all week in ME262's.

It's a blast.

Nice site yall got here. I'll be doing a lot of reading in the coming days
