Eperimental (German) Interceptor
Hi all,
Ran across this interesting photo on eBay.com today under heading: German experimental intereceptor late war-Austria It looks like some of the late war "Secret paper projects" but I do not remember seeing it before. It seems this might have helicoper prop up front? Can someone clarify what this was. http://cgi.ebay.com/German-experimen...item414c19d098 Last edited by edNorth; 20th January 2010 at 20:25. Reason: oops, sorry for typo in heading, finger troble.. |

Re: Eperimental (German) Interceptor
Looks like it could be a Bachem Natter.

Re: Eperimental (German) Interceptor
Thanks Steve. Yes - looking up a reference book - It seems like the tail portion of an Natter, lying sideways. The ventral fin is nearest on pic.

Hi ed,
Agree please see: https://www.fiddlersgreen.net/aircra...chem-Ba349.gif but kind of odd to find this in Austria. bregds SES |

Re: Eperimental (German) Interceptor
It does appear to be a Natter variant. The location of the parachute seems odd. However, finding it in Austria is not unusual. Austria was also carved up into zones of occupation but compared to Germany, little has been written about what was going on there. Only last year have Austrian researchers begun to look at atomic research that went on in Austria during the war.

Re: Eperimental (German) Interceptor
The gentleman appears to be holding a drogue/drag parachute. Is it fair to say that the Natter used one, perhaps for descent recovery?
