100th victory claim of 8./J.G. 2

can anyone help me with informations about the 100th victory claim of 8./J.G. 2 ? Second reforming after renaming from 12./J.G. 2. Which time period is possible ? Near end 1944/45 ?

For me, the 100th victory of the 8./JG2 could be situated in december 1942, when 8./JG2 based in Brest-Guipavas.

1942 was the first forming of 8./J.G. 2. The squadron was reformed and renamed as 8./J.G. 2 from the 12./J.G. 2 at 9./10.1943. I look for informations from this date onwards.

Hello, Sorry, i have not understood!
The problem it's that between September 1943 to the end of the war, I count only 30 victories for the 8. /JG2 (so the second formation) and 31 victories for the 12. /JG2 (so the first formation of 8. /JG2)...far to reach the 100th.

Presume you are using Tony's claim list as your source? Definitely a great start, but far from complete.

Yes, you're right, for 1943 to 1945, it 's only Tony's claim...But i start complete/cross with Jochen Prien's books (1939>1942) and Erik Mombeeck's books, "In the Skies of France, a Chronicle of JG2 Richthofen" Tome 1 & 2 (1939>1941)

I can tell you that Uffz Erich Söldners claim of a P 38 at the 25. June 1944 are the 220. of I./JG 2 was.

OK, so if I run a query of my database for 8./JG 2 claims by date and time, and find the 100th entry I come up with:

01-Dec-42, Uffz., Leopold, Groiß, , 8., JG 2, Beaufighter, PlQu. 89 69/14 West, 15.00, 2., 403, yes, Prien/Bock, , ,



There may be some gaps in the Prien data, so cannot by any means guarantee that this is the right claim. Microsoft Access querying makes these kinds of searches so easy - though the accuracy is only as good as the data we have. There are 4 other 8./JG 2 claims for this day, and reported chronologically based on the query definition. The 403 only reflects that Prien reports unit claims by Gruppe.

Dear gents,

thank you for your answers. But I think I was misunderstood. I look for the 100th vic. of 8./J.G. 2 after his reforming from the 12./J.G. 2 in October 1943. For my opinion the claims were added up to the existing ones from 12./2 at this time. The NEW 12./2 was formed on 1.1.43. He had the No. 55 claim on 16.8.43. The squadron was reformed Sep/Oct 1943. The NEW 8./2 had the No. 12 (in fact the 19th vic of the squadron) on 31.7.44. Perhaps the claims was added and the 100th squadron claim of NEW 8./2 was at 1944/45. Also a sample, the OLD 8./2 had the No. 211 vic on 24.9.43 and the NEW 12./2 the No. 213 on 3.10.43. Why not differently around ?
I not mean the old 8. (III./2) or 12./J.G. 2 (IV./2) form first forming !

Well, the new Prien volume should answer that question. Haven't got mine yet though.
