Loss of Uffz. Heinrich Feigenbutz over England - 12.08.1942

Hi,

Please see the attached sterbebild.

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Uffz. Heinrich Feigenbutz who was killed on a bombing attack over Derby on the 12th August 1942.

Apparently on his 16th bombing mission. What uint was he with and what type of aircraft. Could you please list other crew members.

Couldn't find him listed in The Blitz - Then and Now.

Many thanks

Rick

Re: Loss of Uffz. Heinrich Feigenbutz over England - 12.08.1942

Hello Rick,

I found the following information in Ulf BALKE's book 'Der Luftkrieg in Europa - 1941-1945. Uffz. Heinrich FEIGENBUTZ was the Bordfunker in Lt. Erich Wolf (+) crew of 9./KG 2. The other crewmembers are Fw. Hans Grundmann (bo)(+) and Uffz. Fritz Holhausen (bm)(+). They were flying Do.217E-4,U5+DT, werkenr. 4263. Cause unknow but probably shot down into the sea by a nightfighter of 409 Sq., Beaufighter of F/Sgt. Thomas.
Grundmann - Ysselsteyn (Niederlande) Block AR Reihe 6 Grab 131.
Holhausen - not found, still missing.
Feigenbutz - Ysselsteyn (Niederlande) Block AR Reihe 6 Grab 130.
Wolf - Ysselsteyn (Niederlande) Block AR Reihe 6 Grab 126.
Hope this will help.
Kind regards,
Dirk
