Hello Rémi

are you sure this plane was lost during mission over Channel ?
german torpedo planes operated on 11 july against convoy UGS 46 in the Med. and one plane of III/KG77 was lost and 4 crewmembers became POW.

KG26 or 77 ,,,???

Further the KG77 from the south of France could ever operated above Med. or Normandy

For the Normandy my source is a very secondary source so , so you hv to be right, but on 11 th no losses for the med. front, at least 2 for III.KG77 the 12.
they started at 00h00 from Salon, 30 planes diff. units

Re: Ju88 III/KG26 lost 11 july 1944

It is III/KG77.
KG26 was also operating from south of France with II/KG26 at Valence and Montélimar and III/KG26 at Montpellier. From 6 june 1944 to end of july KG26 and KG77 operated conjointly over the Channel (with intermediate landing at Cognac, Anger, Dijon or Chalon) but occasionnaly over the Med. I have for night 11 to 12 july, 28 Ju-88 LT operating againt convoy before cap Tenes.
I doubt III/KG77 could muster so much planes at this date so I am inclined to think the two groups operated this night over the Med.
Please, tell me what is your source of informations so we can try to make the fact clear.

Thanks

Claude
