1 Squadron Hurricanes BD940, Z3899

Hello
I am looking for the individual serial codes for these aircaft which collided over the Isle of Wight on the 22 Nov 1941

BD940 Pilot Flt Sgt L J Travis Killed
Z3899 Pilot Flt Sgt D F Perrin Baled out Injured.

1 Squadron was at Tangmere at the time coded JX-?.

In addition a 1 Squadron MkI Hurricane P3172 crashed at Sandown IOW on the 11 Aug 1940, Pilot J A Davey (Killed), I have the individual code listed as 'B', can anyone confirm this code?

I have JX-W for Z3899 and JX-P for P3172.

Thank you for the details. Pilots photos also appreciated.
I know someone who as a child witnessed John Daveys crash, apparently he had made a good forced landing, sadly the plane then ran into a ditch and overturned.

I am still seeking an individual code for BD940
Also I have a query as to the exact mark of aircraft these were.
BD940 I am fairly sure was a MkIIC
Z3899 I am not sure about, I suspect it was a MkIIB, can anyone confirm these?.
From what I can find on the internet it appears 1 squadron were requipped with IIC's by February 1942, possibly this incident took place during the changeover period and both types were in use.
