Re: Photos 1-27
Isn't
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=150553565998 a new photo of He111v14 (A radial engined He111G3)? The descriptior, "FOTO FLUGZEUG He111 Kennung KJ+AR mit Sternmotor", also suggests the same! Vic |

Seems to be Vic,
a G-3 of a Blind Flieger Schule as indicated by the emblem and the big number on tailplane, like that one for example: Cheers, Franck. Last edited by ouidjat; 19th March 2011 at 09:49. |

Re: Photos 1-27
Hi...
Yes, I've seen these two Heinkel photos before, but I did learn something yesterday about these aircraft... they were also known under experimental designations as He111L. An extract below from Smith & Kay's German Aircraft of the Second World War (Putnam): Nine G-series aircraft were built. The He111V14 D-ACBS Augsburg (W.Nr 1884) was fitted with 880hp BMW 132Dc radial engines and was known alternatively as the He111G-3 or He111L. These designations were also applied to the He111V15, D-ADCF Dresden (W.Nr1885), which was powered by two 870hp BMW 132H-1 engines. The Stammkennzeichen database on the LEMB website also states the code KJ+AR was applied to an He111L, on the strength of Flugzeugführerschule (B) 34 and/or Blindflugschule 4. Also, an additional photo, from an ebay auction of August 2009. Regards, Paul Last edited by obdl3945; 9th April 2012 at 04:26. |

Re: Photos 1-27
Yes Paul,
Blindflugschule! Thank you!!! I have another code: CE+NX, white 28 on tail; coming from a colour profile I found on russian site. Note the two bands around the fuselage also BFS unit clue... Well, you know better than me... Franck. |

Re: Photos 1-27
Hi, Franck...
Ah yes, my friend CE+NX... one of my better models, photos below. However, I based my model of this He111G-3 on the photo in Meyer & Stopdonk's The Luftwaffe from Training School to the Front (Schiffer) p.40, which doesn't have any number on the tailplane, certainly not on the starboard side. That's what I like about this subject, though... nothing is quite as it seems... ![]() Regards, Paul Last edited by obdl3945; 9th April 2012 at 04:26. |
