Ju 87D-5 loss 25.07.1944 Oblt. Haker SG77

Hi to all,

Does anyone have the details of Oblt. Theodor Haker's Ju 87 Stuka which was attacked by Mustangs on the 25th July 1944? Haker, a 23 year old RK holder had to make an emergency landing after his engine caught fire but overturned on landing. Haker tried to commit suicide and shot himself in the head but the bullet did not kill him instead he was blinded. Eventually he and his wounded gunner were picked up by by German troops in a lorry but were ambushed by partisans en-route and was murdered at the side of the road. His gunner who was already wounded acted dead in the ditch and managed to get away in the darkness and was picked up by SS troops.

Any help always greatly appreciated.

Melvin

What for an extraodinary history, to add that day the SG77 lost maybe a dozen or more planes , usually at that time the "Stukateuren" try be be keen in action, or their usual opponents don't hv the "grinta" of the "open-market economy" Mustangs .

The 31st FG shot down quite a few Ju 87s between Rzeszow-Przeworsk-Mielec on 25 July 1944. They also strafed one of Model's retreating army, before bouncing Rudel's Ju 87s near Jaroslaw.

En route to landing after first leg of a Shuttle Mission by 15th AF.
