"Flight...you know what to do with the lame ducks"
Usually those lovely original shots from Germany seem to go for a fortune on ebay.
This one, listed as 'Foto original Flugzeug Ju52 + Spitfire Wrack 1940', caught my eye and I was intrigued that it was taken from a passing car..and a snip at 2 Euros. Methinks a Hurricane. Any ideas to its identity or location? PeterA ![]() ![]() |

Re: "Flight...you know what to do with the lame ducks"
Is it a Spitfire? I don't think so, it looks like a French Dewoitine D.520. So the picture was IMHO taken after the war against France.

Re: "Flight...you know what to do with the lame ducks"
Hi
If Falcon is not right about a Dewoitine have you considered a P40? The spinner looks a little too pointed for a Hurricane and the leading edge of the wing a little too straight.- and also the exposed engine seems too "lumpy" for a Merlin. I believe the French Air Force had some at the start of the war although I seem to recall a different designation at that stage. Regards Dick |

Re: "Flight...you know what to do with the lame ducks"
It really is a Hurricane. The irregular hexagonal panel over the gun bays on the stbd wing, with small triangular panels either side at the front are a dead give away. Unless Airfix got it wrong when I built their 1:24 scale Hurricane in the 80s and put it on my bedroom wall
Place and date, not a clue Martin |

Definitely a Hurricane. Look at the tubular construction of the fuselage aft of the engine. Hurricanes also had several prop/spinner variants early in the war.

Of course it is a Hurricane.
Metal covered wings? We might imagine in France, Battle of France lame duck? ..anything conflicting with that? PeterA |
