Seeking ID of He111 FL in the snow winter 1939-40?
Hello,
This eBay photo of an He111 FL in the snow indicates that this is in Russia, but the markings more likely indicate that this was during the winter of 1939-40, which would make this in Germany. The Gesch code can't be seen but the rest of the code is ??+KN. Those large letters are typical of a KG54 a/c, but ones from that unit always had white outlines to the a/c letter during this period, and this one has the plane code of "K" in solid red. The large size of these letters are probably diagnostic for some other unit.
