Fi 156 Storch of 1. Staffel, 7 Fliegerdivision?

There is a photo of Storch 4Q+PH on page 84 of the Flugzeug book "Von der Fliegerschule zum Einsatzverband". It has a unit emblem on the nose, just behind the exhaust but the picture is not clear enough to make it out.

Would anyone be able to tell me what the emblem is, or point me in the right direction to find out? I have had several unsuccessful attempts with Google and can't find anything in my books.

Many thanks in advance,

George.

The emblem appears to be "Jesau" cross/shield, affiliated with many units associated with East Prussia. Besides the Verbindungsstaffel 7. Flieger-Division, "4Q+_H" was used by the Aufklärungsstaffel XI. Fliegerkorps, and some Staffeln of Aufklärungsgruppe 22?

There's a photo of a Fi 156 "4Q+PH" taken from 2 o'clock, that shows no white trim around the Kennung, no emblem on the starboard side (may be a different machine, with same Kennung).

4Q+ with staffel letter H is Aufkl.Sta./XI. Fl.Korps. I also have a Hs126 coded 4Q+DH with this 'Tannenberg' Teutonic cross.

Many thanks GRM and Ian.
My pic is from the port side so perhaps the emblem was only on one side. I don't suppose anyone has an idea of what colour the emblem would be? I wish to model this aircraft.

Thanks,

George.

Hi George

I do not have access to the Fi156 photo that you have mentioned, but the Hs 126 that I have with the emblem shows it to be very similar to the Aufkl.Gr. 10 emblem. The only clear difference is the top of the shield which in the case of Aufkl.St/XI Fliegerkorps is rounded. The cross is almost certainly black on a white background, as is seen on other versions of the Teutonic cross used on emblems.
