Confusion perhaps due to website b17-france.org which gives Monjoie-en-Cousserons as crashsite.
Location is Monschau, Germany instead?

Regards,

Leendert

Losses of the 8th and 9th Air Forces vol 1 states that the ball turret was blown off and the no.2 engine was set on fire. The entire interior was in flames, then it broke in two. Location is given as Elsig, near Frauenburg - just as has been pointed out.

Here is what I have:

Del Dallas 30/7/43; Gore 31/7/43; Dallas 3/8/43; ass 325BS/92BG [NV-O] Podington 27/9/43; MIA Leverkusen 1/12/43 w/Hale; flak, cr Montjoie, Fr; 9KIA 1POW; MACR 1387.

So, the crash is listed as in France at Montjoie in "The B-17 Flying Fortress Story" by Roger A. Freeman with David Osborne.

Hi Ed,

thanks for taking time to serach, I appreciate.

However, something is not clear to me. I read:

"Missing In Action in Leverkusen on 1/12/43 w/Hale; flak,"
then,
" cr Montjoie, Fr;"

what does "cr" mean ?
and finally, where did it actually crah ?

kind regards

Gilles
