markings IV./JG 1 and pilot to identify

Hello,

Soon I'll have these two pictures colourised by an artist:

https://nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl/f...oorlogstijd%22

https://nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl/f...%22Foto%27s%22

Now I have some questions about the markings of IV. Gruppe:

What colours did the tactical numbers and the 'o' marking behind the Balkenkreuz have?

Was it like this?

10. Staffel - white
11. Staffel - red
12. Staffel - yellow

About the 'devil in the clouds' or 'Teufel in den Wolken' emblem:
did the background have a yellow or a light-blue colour?

In the second picture, there is a pilot. Is someone able to identify him? If so, it would be possible to identify the Staffel.

Thank you very much!
Kind regards,
Timon Legemaat

Hello Timon

According to the entries in the IV./JG 1 loss list you are correct in the tactical colors of the component Staffeln. The background of the IV./JG 1 emblem (inherited from 2./JGr 101 and later used by I./JG 1) is now considered to have been yellow based on research by Rodeike and Mombeek.

Horrido!

Hello Timon,

according to JFV Vol. 7 the Staffel colors were white (10./JG 1), black - not red - (11./JG 1) and yellow (12./JG 1).

Leo

Hi guys

Yes, I overlooked that the original post had listed the 11./JG 1 tactical color as red, it was black as Rottler pointed out. Unfortunately, I have no idea who the pilot may have been although judging from the color of the tactical marking the aircraft would appear to have belonged to 12./JG 1.

Horrido!
