Bf109 W/Nr.9960, 16.02.1941
Whilst typing out the Luftwaffe loss returns, I noticed the following entry:
Stab JG77, Messerschmitt Bf109E (9960). Crashed at Ummendorf, near Eilsleben, Germany. Lt. Herbert Hinrichs (F) killed. Aircraft a write-off. My question is, can anyone confirm the W/Nr is correct, as 9960 seems very high for this period?

John Foreman in his, Air War 1941:The Turning Point (Part One) (p.149), records the following:
Casualties. 16th February 1941- Luftwaffe. Stab/JG 77 Bf109E7 0960. Crashed at Eisleben, Lt H. Hinrichs killed. Aircraft destroyed. Well, that's Mr Foreman's version of events! Col.
